A pool for the W3C validators

Permanant link —Jan 5, 02:19 PM

We’re looking for some help about available copies of the W3C markup and style validators on the web.

We humbly think that having a (growing) list of these validators available will lighten the burden on the official servers.

So we set a page on jottit, to collect a list of the known copies of these validators.
Please add yours and those you know to this list:
http://w3c.jottit.com/validators-pool

If someone’s interested in “sponsoring” a web app, with running copies of these validators, please let us know :)

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

For our server we found some of the validators on the web by taping the beginning of the URL.

We check if the official is available and if not we us others (with SOAP).

In the next version we will use our own validators with localization too.

Have you tried to installled your own validator ?

Olivier Thereaux from W3C (in charge of the validator) tell me that they have changed their servers last years with a better support and capacity.

Bonjour Loopion!

Yes, We often installed the validator locally. Actually our problem is (what a shame!) we can’t afford a dedicated server or even a VPS right now.
And having a “cluster” of validators to query randomly is by far the best solution, won’t you agree? :)

Yes, I know Olivier, but didn’t knew that the servers were upgraded.
Thanks again for stopping by and have a superbe et bonne journée!

P.S. Can we submit some SOAP queries to your server ?

Like I said, actually we query on servers that aren’t sure and may stop as any moment. Like you do. :)

We just put a test to see if the server is online. If yes we use it, if not we use another one (we have a total of 3 or 4 validators I think).

In our next version we will pay for a dedicated platform from a friend who works on web hosting.

If you want we could maybe combine our servers and host your self for more response. (why not combine our projects :p).
