Usability is about your mom!
Doug Ward shows us a fundamental aspect of usability: Design and code for your users! Never try to impress them with stuff they very probably ignore. Never make them feel like idiots.
I usually call this “content accesibility”, it’s about speaking your readers language, and explaining things gently without trying to hurt or, in the other side, to impress them.
